All are welcome to join guest speaker Lauren Hannah-Murphy and First Parish of Sudbury.
In the second and third centuries AD, there were, of course, Christians who believed in one God. But there were others who insisted there were two. Some said there were thirty. Others claimed there were 365. Lauren Hannah-Murphy explores the fascinating world of early, pre-Council of Nicea Christian history, touching on what we know about the historical Jesus of Nazareth versus Jesus the Christ as well as some of the Christianities that could have been. In exploring the history, she’ll share how we can have our voices be heard, much like the one out in the early 300s.
Lauren Hannah-Murphy grew up in a suburb of Chicago, IL, but found herself in Massachusetts while a student at Harvard Divinity School, where she got a Master’s in Theological Studies (MTS). She is currently a Chief of Staff at Google, but has also contemplated starting a bakery, becoming a minister, and becoming a librarian. She began leading services while a part of the UU group at Harvard Divinity School, has been leading services at Channing Church in Rockland, MA, since 2008, where she also led the congregation in its efforts to become a Welcoming Congregation in 2009, and lives in Abington, MA, with her wife and two children.
