In our culture, we are conditioned to understand ourselves as more important than animals, that they exist on a hierarchy beneath humans. This thinking has fueled the treatment of animals as commodities, as beings without any sentience or ability to love. This is part of the structure that has served the desecration of the web of creation.
This will be a light-hearted, yet scientifically informed, rendering of the true nature of various animals. Did you know that honeybees deliberate democratically, that snakes have friends, and that turtles get depressed?
