10 am-12 pm: Sudbury Meetinghouse Open House
10:30 am & 2 pm: Meetinghouse Tours with Jan Hardenbergh, Board Chair and Town Historian
See what the citizens of Sudbury were thinking during the 10 years before the Declaration of Independence. Their Town Meeting minutes reveal what was important to the early colonists and how they felt about the actions taken by the King and Parliament in England. Children can answer questions about their predecessors for a chance to ring the bell!
1-2 pm: Play – Declaring Independence: Then and Now
Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area will present Declaring Independence: Then and Now, an award-winning performance that brings the words and ideas of 1776 to life through readings of the Declaration of Independence and first-person perspectives from living-history performers. Tailored to the local community and followed by audience conversation, this thought-provoking program invites residents to reflect on what independence meant then and what it means today.
