First Parish invites the community to join us for our services with Rev. Kathleen Hepler on Sundays at 10 am.
Join us for: A Changing Faith that Changes Us.
Unitarian Universalism is a creedless religion that trusts each person to find a faith that sustains them. In 1985, congregations voted to adopt 7 Principles and 6 Sources as descriptive of some common values in that journey. I was at the General Assembly where there was discussion about the pros and cons of such a move. Some felt they were too much like a creed. Others felt they were general enough to offer guidance without being personally prescriptive. It was a lively discussion to say the least! Now there is a movement to once more change what we ask ourselves to agree on as a movement. I’ll share the basics with you. If we are true to being
a free faith, things will necessarily change along the way. This is who we are.
Discussion and the democratic process are key religious practices of our
faith.
Come and consider what you think and feel about a possible change.
This would be a good Sunday to bring a friend who has wondered about
UUism!
In-person or online.
