Join First Parish of Sudbury for our annual Music Sunday!
Featuring Áine Minogue, Irish harp; Tom Hill & Yi-Ting, clarinets, and the First Parish Choir
Our world moves at a demanding pace, resulting in many of us feeling overwhelmed and burned out. Come to our Music Sunday, with the theme of “Rest,” where we will explore the possibilities that rest can
create in our lives.
Featured in this meditative service of music is Irish harpist, Áine Minogue, an award-winning harpist, singer, arranger, and composer. She will be joined by Tom Hill & Yi-Ting, clarinets. The Choir of First Parish and
guest singers will offer several breathtaking choral settings starting with “Sure On This Shining Night” by
Morten Lauridsen, followed by “Always Something Sings” by Dan Forrest and “The Peace of Wild Things”
based on the poem by Wendell Berry by Joan Szymko. The final choral piece with text by Sara Teasdale
will be “The Music of Stillness” by Elaine Hagenberg. This moving piece beautifully declares “ I will find
the crystal of peace” and closes with “ I will find the music of stillness, holy and low.”
Guaranteed to grant our spirits ease, this service will encourage us to build rest into our daily lives to
promote desperately needed self-care. This then better enables us to care for others and have renewed
energy to engage in the important work that social and climate justice is requiring of us.
