Join us for our Music Sunday service, “Finding Hope,” featuring Hunter Bennett (clarinet), Terry Lockhart (vocal solo), and Debra Morris-Bennett, Minister of Music. We will explore finding hope in our lives and how we often turn to nature as a source of hope. This service, which falls between Earth Day (on 4/22) and Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day on 4/27), will include two centerpiece musical works by Olivier Messiaen’s—“Abyss of the Birds” (clarinet solo), written while the composer was in Auschwitz, and Elizabeth Alexander’s vocal solo, “The Gospel Isn’t Written in the Bible Alone.” Other musical pieces and selected readings and poems will provide thoughtful reflections on finding and holding hope in our lives.
