November 21, 2021 – Giving Thanks: A Commitment to Non-Violence

Every year at this service we celebrate Giving Thanks with an image of the Pilgrims sitting down with the Native Peoples in celebration. What we have learned from the Native Peoples is that this is a day of mourning for them. Instead of celebrating a moment of peace that took place hundreds of years ago followed by a history of genocide let us make a commitment to do no more harm. During this month focused on non-violence, we have an opportunity to envision a place of peace. This Sunday we will be discussing the importance of mindfully evolving our traditions to become something more. Join Rev. Dr. Marjorie Matty and the congregation of First Parish in a conversation about the importance of non-violence and peace.

This service will be held in-person and online.
