Professor Martin Seligman at the University of Pennsylvania began a movement of Positive Psychology. There are now several researchers of this movement who have discovered unexpected contributors to subjective well-being. Although it might come as no surprise to the wisdom traditions such as Buddhism and Sufism, there are a few perspectives that we can hold even in this time when the specter of plague haunts our world.
