First Parish welcomes Rev. Lilia Cuervo to the pulpit this Sunday. A native of Colombia, she was the first Latin American woman ordained in the Unitarian Universalist denomination. She has had a long career working on multiculturalism and anti-racism.
Rev. Cuervo writes of Liberation Theology: Born in Latin America, this theology has been called the theology for the third millennium. In Sunday’s service we will reflect on the challenges that this revolutionary, grass-roots approach to liberation may present to our congregations so deeply concerned with social justice. Let us also learn how it can help liberate our UU spirits, helping us get closer to our dream of Beloved Community.
