The topic for this month’s salon is Stuff. Is your life stuffed with stuff? We are told to declutter and to keep only what gives us joy. How much stuff is OK? Jesus said if you want to be perfect sell all your stuff and give the proceeds to the poor, but you don’t see a lot of Christians rushing to do that. Why do we have or want so much stuff? What “higher” purpose does our consumerism serve in the economy, in society? What are the impacts on the environment, on social justice?
Anything you cannot relinquish when it has outlived its usefulness possesses you, and in this materialistic age a great many of us are possessed by our possessions.
Peace Pilgrim
The Religious Exploration Salon is a group that meets 3rd Sundays to discuss various topics in the format called Bohm Dialogue.
For more details about how Dialogue works, please see our January article.
Everyone is welcome. You are welcome to think about the topic beforehand but no preparation is required or expected — come as you are with whatever thoughts/intuitions you have, ready to listen, learn and contribute. We meet Sunday Dec. 20th at 7pm in the Brackett Room.
