Halloween, All Souls and Day of the Dead…

day of the dead maskOn November 1, join the congregation at First Parish of Sudbury Unitarian Universalist, and Rev. Dr. Marjorie Matty as she reviews history and practices, religious or not, of honoring those who have transcended this mortal plane. Pagan and religious beliefs of the “thinning of the veil” between the living world and that of the dead have circulated around the world in different cultures for millennia. What is it about changing weather and falling leaves that brings us to a place of desiring to commune with those who have gone on before?
This Sunday we will be honoring those who have died with an “altar” to our loved ones. Please bring a photo or memento to presente. Honoring our dead regardless of belief and what helps us to make meaning at times of great loss is the topic of the Sunday service.
