This Sunday we gather to bless our two, four, no and multi-legged furry, feathered, scaly, slithery, hairy friends and familiars. It is a day when Saint Francis, a Catholic saint who is honored the world over for his compassion and good works is remembered. Rev. Dr. Marjorie Matty will be welcoming into the meetinghouse, for a blessing and worship, those well mannered non-human among us. Rev. Marjorie explains, “Saint Francis often preached to the birds and blessed animals as his brothers and sisters he was a man that believed in the importance of loving and caring for one another regardless of one’s species. Saint Francis is an exemplar for humanity to emulate.”
