Spirituality Book Group, Sept. 22, 10:30am

Spiritual Book Group Discussion on Saturday Sept. 22 10:30 am in the Brackett Room
Please join us for a discussion of Here if you need me: a True Story by Kate Braestrup.

Here is a description  of the book from Amazon.  “HERE IF YOU NEED ME is the story Kate Braestrup’s remarkable journey from grief to faith to happiness – as she holds her family together in the wake of her husband’s death, pursues his dream of becoming a minister, and ultimately finds her calling as a chaplain to search-and-rescue workers. It is dramatic, funny, deeply moving, and simply unforgettable–an uplifting account of finding God through helping others, and of the small miracles that happen every day when a heart is grateful and love is restored.”

Several members of the book group are eager to get together after the summer hiatus.  Feel free to join us even if you haven’t finished the book.  It will be a good discussion.  Come contribute your thoughts on the book and your suggestions for our next book.

The Spiritual Book Group meets every 2 months on a Saturday morning. Contact Leslie Lowe with comments and questions.

Spiritual Book Group News April 11, 2018

The Spiritual Book Group is reading Deep Work- Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World by Cal Newport. “A mix of cultural criticism and actionable advice, Deep Work takes the reader on a journey through memorable stories - from Carl Jung building a stone tower in the woods to focus his mind, to a social media pioneer buying a round-trip business class ticket to Tokyo to write a book free from distraction in the air - and no-nonsense advice, such as the claim that most serious professionals should quit social media and that you should practice being bored."  Go to http://theshawnstevensonmodel.com/deep-work/ which is a podcast of The Model Health Show featuring an interview with Cal Newport.

Our next meeting on Saturday June 9 10:30 am-12 noon. Please come if you're interested in this topic even if you haven't had time to finish the book.  We will be ranking potential books to read for next year after we discuss Deep Work.  At our last meeting we decided to add fictional books as well.
