10/15 Bohm Dialogue — How do people find meaning?

In September we asked what takes the place of God in a secular society. But we never exactly got to what Paul wanted to dialogue on which was “How do we as individuals find or make meaning for ourselves in this modern world”. To answer that we of course have to figure out what we mean by meaning – so what is the meaning of meaning?

Wikipedia: The meaning of life, or the answer to the question “What is the meaning of life?”, pertains to the significance of living or existence in general. Many other related questions include “Why are we here?”, “What is life all about?”, or “What is the purpose of existence?”

Joseph Campbell said: “Life has no meaning. Each of us has meaning and we bring it to life. It is a waste to be asking the question when you are the answer.”

Shall we “waste” some time together? Join us to listen to what others think and to share what you think.  The Religious Exploration Salon is a group that meets 3rd Sundays to discuss various topics in the format called Bohm Dialogue which emphasizes respectful listening and balanced, synergistic sharing. For more details about how Dialogue works, please see this intro.

Everyone is welcome. You are welcome to think about the topic beforehand but no preparation is required or expected — come as you are with whatever thoughts/intuitions you have, ready to listen, learn and contribute.  We next meet Sunday October 15th at 7pm in the Brackett Room.
