First Parish of Sudbury Unitarian Universalist invites you to two upcoming events as part of our Racial Justice work:

March 20th, 2:00pm – Being the Voice of Reason

Why do we, the First Parish of Sudbury proclaim that, “Black Lives Matter” when we live in a community that has such a low population of people with dark skin? What do we feel about raising up only part of the population of our world instead of All Lives? What is race privilege and how are we and others affected in ways that we do not even realize? How and what can we do to make the world a safer and more equitable place for all people?

All are invited to attend on March 20th at 2:00pm a conversation that will answer these questions and help us to be able to speak to the topic of privilege and race equality. From the facilitators, a short description: “how to talk with White people about racism.” It is up to us as citizens of metro west and of the world to participate in this conversation this session/training will help us to better understand how to go there with people who question why we are not upholding “All Lives.”

March 30th, 7:30pm – Community Forum

First Parish of Sudbury affirms the inherent worth and dignity of all people, and we stand on the side of love. If you wonder why First Parish is taking a stand with regard to Black Lives Matter in a predominantly fair skinned community, if you want to understand the reality of privilege, if you have questions or concerns about our signage and message please join us as we welcome all to the First Parish of Sudbury at 7:30pm. There will be a panel of speakers who will share their thoughts and experiences. Your questions and concerns will be welcomed and addressed, and there will be a small group conversation. Refreshments will be provided. More Info
