Religious Education for kids and youth: November 29th

chalice for watermark 3This Sunday after Thanksgiving, November 29th, there will be no regular RE programs. Instead, all the children will be together and we’ll be preparing to be worship leaders for the Christmas Eve Holiday Pageant — in which we’ll be telling three sacred tales, a multicultural celebration including an ancient story about the Japanese Sun Goddess, Amaterasu, then the story of the life of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, and finally to the story of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. We’ll be discussing what it means to be symbols and lead worship while we make some of the props and costumes for the service itself!
While not necessary, it would be helpful to know if your child/children will be at church this Sunday so that we can plan accordingly. There will be no youth group meeting after church.
We would love your child to participate in the pageant. Please let me know! Typically, in past years all that is required is to show up at one rehearsal on Dec 24th in the morning, and then arriving early for the pageant itself, which will be at 5pm on Dec 24th. But there will be plenty of roles for everybody, even for those who just “show up”.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
