– Connecting the Generations
“The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won’t wait while you do the work.”
~ Patricia Clafford
The most important ingredient of any religious community is the love and support of many people. It is essential to the spiritual development of all members at First Parish to foster a loving connection between folks of all ages. In that regard, we seek positive opportunities to connect our members across the generations. In addition to having everyone join together for the first portion of our Sunday worship services, we will plan other special opportunities for being together. These will include:
All Children Together Activities:
During our specially planned activities, all of our children will be able to spend some quality time together. We believe it is important to encourage the children to build a connection with all children at First Parish, not just the ones in their small groups.
Special Worship Services:
Several times during the year, our Sunday worship service is created for our entire community. Folks of all ages are welcome to attend these services. We have special stories, activities, and music that spiritually engage people of all ages. These are great opportunities for children and adults to enjoy worshiping together.
Multigenerational Special Events:
Stay tuned to our newsletter for news about great activities being planned. Based on the premise that people tend to build friendships based on shared interests, we will be offering some programs that will appeal to folks of different ages. These activities will be fun for everyone who joins us. We also have a Facebook page specifically for those individuals and families interested in connecting to do fun activities together.
This winter, children and adults will work together to create a theatrical production guided by Alorie Parkhill. These theater programs have been extremely popular for years here at First Parish and new actors are enthusiastically welcomed to join us! This year’s program will feature a variety vignettes. Enjoy acting, singing, and dancing? Like improv theater? Come ready to have fun!
Let us know what multigenerational activities you would like at First Parish!
“As wonderful and important as our lessons are, the top priority in our religious education programs is building relationships. Our primary curriculum is to create the mutual relationship of love, care, and respect.”
~ Terry Stafford
