In closing last week’s sermon Rev. Dr. Marjorie shared, “My friends we have two ways of looking at our current predicament… either it is too late and we are beyond redemption or we need to get radical about what we expect and what we are willing to do in order to personally evolve, and make significant shifts in our country and our world. We have so much to learn and so much to share and so much to reform and it begins in each one of our hearts and minds with one very personal decision–how radically committed are we willing...

Radical…

Let’s get radical. As we plod towards yet another “Columbus Day”, a day that celebrates the honor of a historically brutal man, we have to ask ourselves, when is enough violence enough? This month at First Parish we will be reflecting on hospitality defined as a cordial and generous reception of or disposition toward guests. What is our responsibility, our commitment to be stewards of radical hospitality in a world that condones and at times honors brutality? Join Rev. Dr. Marjorie Matty as she wrestles with the reality of hospitality and...

Insights:

It is amazing that it is October already. The last few weeks seem to be speeding by marked by one more storm, flood or some form of violent action. On Sunday evening October 1st motivated to do something positive the Sudbury Clergy Association gathered with fifty or so people on the Sudbury Common to commit to and pray for peace. We never imagined as we gathered that within a couple of hours a gunman would shoot out of hotel windows at a crowd of concert goers wounding over five hundred and killing at latest count fifty nine people. It is...
