Religious Education May 7th

Posted by on May 3, 2017 in Coming Up in RE, DLRE Column, Religious Exploration | Comments Off on Religious Education May 7th

Spirit Play will look towards our 7th principle as we celebrate May Day and wonder about our place in the interdependent web of life and how best to care for the earth. UU Explorers will continue with their Toolbox of Faith and look at humor as a tool of our faith tradition, using the metaphor of sandpaper. Sandpaper symbolizes humor in that it is a tool which smooths the rough edges of life. In this session, participants will engage in and reflect on humor and laughter, and examine their place in helping us survive and enjoy the life we are...

Insights: The End is Near…

Posted by on May 3, 2017 in General News, Minister's Column | Comments Off on Insights: The End is Near…

The End is Near… In Boston, Manhattan, Los Angeles or really at any busy intersection, especially during a pride parade one can find someone, usually a man but not exclusively, holding a sign filled with disconcerting images invariably a cross, citing biblical texts, calling for humanity to repent as the end is near. Most passersby give these folks a wide berth. Many of us do not believe in this theology nor do we want to believe in the implications of such an eschatology. We want to instead believe that our future is secure and that if there...

Posted by on May 2, 2017 in General News | Comments Off on Results of the Women’s Alliance 2017 Rummage Sale

Thanks to all who donated to, and worked on, the 2017 Women’s Alliance Rummage Sale and helped to make it successful once again. The final tally is not quite in (we have some items we brought to a consignment store, including a fabulous antique rocking horse) but it looks like we will exceed last year’s take. This year 20 women and 7 men actually did the work to make it happen, from extracting the sign from the shed, changing the date, placing stories in newspapers, distributing fliers, sorting,  setting up and taking down tables,...
