Challenging Racism

Recent events in Charlottesville left most of us feeling deeply troubled. The sight of Nazi salutes and white men with torches were unnerving. Yet, we know that systemic racism does not need a hood or a swastika. Its intransigence depends largely on not questioning or even understanding exactly how it all works. The good news is that, all across the country, white people are talking about racism and white privilege, reading about it, and trying to understand and challenge it as the first steps towards finally dismantling it.

Join us after church – at 11:45 – on September 17th in the Brackett Room to explore systematic racism in our culture – from our own to that in our larger community.  We’ll also brainstorm to choose a book to read as part of an ongoing conversation. For more information, contact Sheila Murphy.
